Relations
The only major Dominian megacorporation, Zavodskoi Interstellar was born from the ashes of the Great Synthetic War. The company quickly grew to have a near-monopoly on the nascent Empire's economy, and has a close relationship with the Empire's government and royal family. Presenting themselves as a people's alternative to the still-fresh pain of the Goblin Solutions regime, they grew to become the prime supplier of arms in human space.
Zavodskoi's current situation is that of a monopoly. Employees are frequently contracted by Dominian and external parties for security and engineering work alike, and their weapons are bought in bulk by most major militaries. They promote a secularized version of Tribunalist values in their corporate media, and frequently push for professionalism and exactness from their workforce. Their current CEO, Carlota Ballester, is shrouded in mystery, and does not make public appearances. She is known to be good friends with members of the royal family.
What do they do?
Zavodskoi's largest market is their weapons department. A Zavodskoi weapon can be found in the hands of a soldier and a civilian, and they are the apex of the arms market, although expensive. Zavodskoi offerings for civilians are mostly non-lethal; the ZIPDefender disruptor, colloquially known as a 'zip', has become the standard in civilian self-defense.
Zavodskoi lethal arms are precise and efficient. The ZSI Model 86 is the standard service rifle for the Dominian naval forces, and the earlier Model 79 is found as surplus and used by frontier militaries throughout the galaxy. Zavodskoi rifles are designed to not breach ship or hulls, as previous venting incidents during testing had resulted in multiple accidental fatalities.
The company also produces gear for their own security contractors, and outside firms. The most notable piece of equipment is the well-known stun baton model, the ZI Musashi. The Musashi is used by many private military groups, and in popular culture is considered to be the tool of law and order. Many anti-Dominian artists use the baton as a symbol of state oppression.
Due to its Dominian upbringing, Zavodskoi also has an extensive catalogue of ion weaponry. Most of these pieces are issued to the Dominian government, due to ongoing Remnant incursions. These are typically not shipped outside of Dominian space, due to controversy over the anti-synthetic views of the government, but they have seen some use in the policing of major synthetic populations.Zavodskoi operatives are instructed to present themselves professionally, calmly, and coldly. They are frequently hired by high-risk corporate ventures and private individuals, and their effectiveness is seen as being second-to-none. Zavodskoi operatives are frequently heavily biomodified, especially ones operating primarily in Dominia. The corporation has also made heavy usage of Zo'rane warriors in their operations, with bulky modified carapace being just as common as skin in Zavodskoi security forces. Zavodskoi's private security contractors are professional, but will not go beyond the terms of their contract; their loyalty is just as secure as their client's money.
Zavodskoi manufactures the majority of the vessels for the Dominian fleet. Their ships are still second to Hephaestus models, which is a sore point for the company, who would much prefer their dominance in Dominian space spread further. This has not been helped by the price tag of most Zavodskoi vehicles, which is much higher compared to other ships. However, Zavodskoi vehicles are typically of a higher quality, with their weapon targeting systems being used even on Hephaestus manufactured ships. Zavodskoi sensor suites are also typically considered superior to their Hephaestus equivalents.
Various types of armor, voidsuits, hardsuits, and exosuits have been released by Zavodskoi over the years. Zavodskoi armor is sturdy and reliable, yet lacks some more modern features seen on various other models; for instance, due to their Tribunalist values, the corporation has been very opposed to adding AI interfacing to their armor. Zavodskoi exosuits are built for combat rather than industrial use, and therefore are designed to be swift while carrying heavy weaponry, as opposed to the pure strength of Hephaestus models.
Relationships
Hephaestus Industries
The main rival of Zavodskoi on the galactic stage, Hephaestus has long been a thorn in the company's side. The Tribunalist values at the core of Zavodskoi's business worsen the tension created by their competing ship and exosuit markets, disagreeing with Hephaestus's manufacturing of IPCs. As Zavodskoi has monopolized the engineering industry in the Empire, they have at least one safe market from which to expand outwards. They would like to see Hephaestus recede and stick to their 'budget' products; after all, Zavodskoi is quality.
Office of Special Services
The OSS is a major client of Zavodskoi's, and even if they disagree on some practices, their relationship is relatively amicable. OSS buyers are known to get discounts on Zavodskoi Interstellar weaponry, and most OSS operatives can be found holding a Zavodskoi weapon. The company still considers their security superior, however. A friendly rivalry has developed between contractors of the two corporations.
Idris Incorporated
Idris represents almost everything contrary to Tribunalist values; sloppy, careless, and decidedly unprofessional. Idris security, however, is respected by most in the company as a genuine competitor. Their service industry, though? Nothing short of hedonism. Zavodskoi will work with Idris when they have to, but their relationship is almost always a terse one.
Empire of Dominia
Being the only Dominian megacorporation, Zavodskoi has quite a close relationship with its host government. Zavodskoi is frequently contracted to engineer new projects for the navy, and has established a firm hold over the economy of the empire. From the batons used by the police to the specialist exosuits used in the field, Dominia has become reliant on Zavodskoi and Zavodskoi has become reliant on it. The Empire frequently subsidizes their costs and encourages employment with the corporation as being honest, stable work.
Playing a Zavodskoi Employee
As an employee you are encouraged to be professional in all matters, and to generally follow Tribunalist edicts even if you are from outside Dominian space. No synthetics are employed under the eaves of ZI, and heavily mechanically-augmented employees are looked at with suspicion. Otherwise, make sure that people know you do good work. Zavodskoi delivers, if nothing else. However, not all employees hold to the rigid standard encouraged by the corporation, and leeway is given, especially on remote postings. Dominian employees stationed outside of the empire are given mandatory sensitivity training by the corporation; you would not be actively aggressive towards synthetics, at risk of losing your job.
